I know I'm not a poet
I never found words before -
Pen to paper,
Fingers to keyboard,
But words did not flow
Until the day I met you…

I'm a numbers girl,
Words don't quite work,
They never did
In this mind of mine
Maths was my language
Until the day I met you…

Now I sit here and write –
It may not be Shakespeare,
Or any standard form,
But the words have come
Free and inspired
Since the day I met you…

Something hidden inside
A talent unknown
I can now bear with pride
I can express more than ever before
